The legend of the Elephant’s Tear

Last night was so amazing. I’m so tired I feel like I’m sleepwalking, but it was sooo worth it. We visited Laos again to learn more about the legend of the Elephant’s Tear (this GORGEOUS sapphire that the elephants gave us on our first trip to Laos). You see, elephants like to tell stories to one another. They’ve told the same stories for thousands of years, and have been passing the Elephant’s Tear to one another, together with the stories.  No one can really remember where the Elephant’s Tear came from, only that elephants have passed it on from one generation to another for many years. But there’s one very very old elephant who says he remembers hearing a tale when he was very young. He can barely remember how the story goes, but he says it starts with a boy and his dog, walking in a deep forest, sure that they would be lost forever. He tried very hard to remember what happened next, but even after we stayed with him for four hours, he couldn’t remember anything else. Christie and I did our best to help him out, and he says he’ll try to think about it some more before we come back to visit next time. I can’t wait! I wonder what the story is about?
